IT CAD System Administrator – Specializing in SolidWorks
Description
The position will be focused on development, implementation, roll out, and management of SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) system. The candidate will work closely with group leads, team leaders, engineers, and other users of the system to develop processes in alignment with business needs and procedure requirements. This role is responsible for creating automations to gain efficiency and reduce repetitive work for the users. This role will be responsible for creating procedures, work instructions, and training for the processes developed within PDM or in support of PDM. Finally, as the PDM admin, this role is responsible for providing timely support to users to ensure functionality of the system and smooth operations. Due to the nature of this role, great communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups of users at various locations is a must.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage and maintain SolidWorks software installations, updates, and configurations across the organization.
• Provide IT support for SolidWorks users, troubleshooting software and hardware-related issues to ensure smooth operation.
• Oversee SolidWorks licensing and ensure compliance with licensing agreements and regulations.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to understand software needs and optimize the SolidWorks environment for performance.
• Manage IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and workstations, ensuring seamless integration with SolidWorks and other related applications.
• Implement and maintain backup systems to protect CAD data and project files.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, ensuring fast and reliable access to SolidWorks files and databases.
• Provide end-user training and support on SolidWorks features, best practices, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure that IT systems meet security standards and adhere to best practices for data protection and disaster recovery.
• Assist in the integration of SolidWorks with other enterprise systems and tools, such as PDM (Product Data Management) and ERP systems.
• Work closely with vendors and third-party support to address hardware and software issues related to SolidWorks.
• Document IT procedures, configurations, and solutions for internal use.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in SolidWorks, CAD systems, and IT best practices.
Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience with SolidWorks administration and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, and workstations.
• Experience with CAD software integration and support, particularly in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Familiarity with PDM (Product Data Management) systems and how they integrate with SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Understanding of IT security protocols and best practices for protecting intellectual property and sensitive data.
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS PDM APIs and programming of time-saving add-ins using C# and .NET
• Multi-site ownership CAD administration
• Familiarity with AS or ISO certifications
• Previous experience managing a multi-site PDM system
• Familiarity with ASME
• Familiarity with Model Based Definition
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with virtualized environments and cloud-based solutions for CAD systems.
• Experience with scripting or automation tools to streamline IT processes.
