Senior Network Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Design Engineer with 5+ years of network engineering and design experience to architect, optimize, and support complex enterprise LAN environments within a manufacturing setting. This role combines hands-on network architecture with advanced troubleshooting, performance optimization, and cross-functional project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect complex LAN environments, including routing, VLANs, subnetting, and voice/video protocols.
• Design and implement robust wired and wireless campus Ethernet infrastructure across large-scale environments.
• Incorporate network security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and secure network protocols.
• Provide Level 3 Incident and Problem Management support, troubleshooting complex network issues and driving rapid service restoration.
• Use network monitoring and analysis tools to proactively identify performance issues and improve network availability.
• Partner with WAN/MAN, transport, structured cabling, project management, and other technical teams in agile-inspired sprint environments.
• Optimize network performance using QoS, traffic shaping, load balancing, and network-performance metrics.
• Create and maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, design documentation, and technical standards.
• Read and assess existing network configurations and translate current-state environments into future-state network designs.
• Lead network design initiatives from planning through implementation, coordinating timelines, resources, dependencies, and stakeholders.
• Communicate complex network concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay current with evolving networking technologies, standards, certifications, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Network Engineering/Network Design experience, ideally supporting complex enterprise or manufacturing environments.
• Strong experience with LAN architecture, routing, VLANs, subnetting, wired/wireless Ethernet, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with network security, firewalls, VPNs, QoS, and performance optimization.
• Strong Level 3 troubleshooting skills and experience with network monitoring/analysis tools.
• Ability to interpret existing network configurations and translate them into scalable network designs.
• Strong documentation, project coordination, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• CCNA certification or equivalent hands-on networking experience.
• Experience with active or passive RFID technologies is a plus, but not required.
