Operations Manager, Payroll
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee accurate payroll execution, ensure consistency in payroll processes, and maintain data accuracy for North America with a strong emphasis on payroll accounting and taxes. This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations in both the U.S. and Canada and plays a key part in delivering high-quality payroll services and employee satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee accurate and timely payroll tax filings and payments across multiple jurisdictions in the U.S. and Canada.

Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payroll-related legislation and system updates.

Collaborate with internal Tax and Accounting teams on payroll tax matters, month-end close, and financial reconciliation.

Lead processing and reporting for biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end activities, including W-2s, W-2Cs, T4s, and RL-1s.

Maintain compliance in payroll tax setup, deposits, filings, and year-end reconciliation.

Manage daily payroll operations and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.

Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries, ensuring exceptional service and timely issue resolution.

Apply for and manage new tax jurisdictions (SIT, SUI, Local/City) via ADP Smart Compliance and maintain all relevant documentation.

Partner with Finance for month-end reporting and journal entries, including payroll accruals.

Prepare regular reports for Finance, internal management, and external audits.

Support internal controls and maintain proper audit trails for payroll transactions.

Assist in biweekly payroll processing and auditing of net pay, taxes, shadow payroll, and taxable benefits.

Work directly with U.S. and Canadian tax agencies to establish accounts and resolve issues.

Maintain and document payroll policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

5–7 years of payroll operations experience, including processing high-volume biweekly payrolls in a multi-state U.S. and Canadian environment.

Expertise in payroll taxes, accounting principles, and wage/hour compliance.

Solid end-to-end payroll operations experience.

Proficiency in payroll systems, preferably SAP-HR and ADP GlobalView.

Advanced Excel skills and experience in spreadsheet-based financial analysis.
