Senior IT Project Manager
Summary
The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing technology projects from initiation through delivery. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet agreed-upon scope and quality standards. The position requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills to drive collaboration across technical and business teams.
Key Responsibilities

Lead medium to large IT projects through the full lifecycle: planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, testing, and delivery.

Translate project requirements into clear objectives, tasks, and milestones; manage progress through detailed plans and change control.

Collaborate with resource managers to build and oversee project teams; assign and monitor project tasks to ensure accountability.

Provide consistent communication and reporting to stakeholders, including updates on risks, issues, and dependencies.

Facilitate team meetings to ensure effective decision-making and progress toward goals.

Manage vendor relationships, including scope definition, procurement, and coordination of vendor deliverables.

Ensure projects follow compliance, security, and safety standards as applicable.

Mentor junior team members and contribute to process improvements across the project management function.
Qualifications

Associate degree, certification, or equivalent experience in a technology-related field; at least 6 years of IT project management experience.

Proficient in project management software (MS Project or similar).

Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.

Excellent organizational, facilitation, and leadership skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Outstanding communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation.

Proven ability to work collaboratively in team-oriented environments.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or related field.

Project Management Professional (PMP), CAPM, or other project management certifications.

ITIL or Six Sigma certification.

Experience managing change management, training, and communications alongside project delivery.

Familiarity with GIS platforms (ESRI, SmallWorld) a plus.

Strong customer focus and ability to align IT solutions with business needs.
