Snowflake Access Governance Specialist
Snowflake Access Governance Specialist
We’re looking for a Snowflake Access Governance Specialist to support data governance initiatives focused on access provisioning, role-based access control (RBAC), and purpose-based role administration within Snowflake.
This role will serve as a key bridge between business stakeholders, data owners, and technical teams to ensure users receive appropriate access while maintaining strong governance, security, and documentation standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Facilitate the creation, modification, and documentation of purpose-based Snowflake roles in partnership with Database Administrators.
- Coordinate access provisioning requests and ensure appropriate role assignments based on business and security requirements.
- Support regular access reviews, certifications, and cleanup initiatives to maintain strong role hygiene and eliminate unnecessary access.
- Partner with data owners, business users, and DBAs to translate business needs into technical access requirements.
- Maintain documentation around role purposes, access levels, approvals, and governance workflows.
- Support broader data governance and access management initiatives.
- Help ensure Snowflake access aligns with organizational policies and security standards.
What We’re Looking For
- Understanding of Snowflake architecture, security models, and RBAC concepts.
- Experience with access management, identity governance, access provisioning, or similar governance-focused responsibilities.
- Familiarity with data governance principles and access management best practices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly around auditing and access cleanup activities.
Nice to Have
- Previous hands-on exposure to Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
- Knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
- Background in data governance, compliance, information security, or identity/access management.
- Experience with access reviews and certification processes.
Important: This is primarily a coordination and governance role rather than a hands-on Snowflake engineering/administration position. Technical implementation will be handled by the DBA team.
