Scrum Master – Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master in Westlake, TX to facilitate the scrum process for cross-functional teams working on moderately complex projects, non-project work, or maintenance tasks. In this role, you will guide teams in Agile and Scrum practices, driving prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint. You will work closely with the teams to optimize velocity, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure higher levels of performance.
As a Scrum Master, you will help deliver capabilities using Agile practices while ensuring compliance with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), business process mapping, and various release processes. You will work to meet all risk, security, and development requirements and partner with discipline managers to ensure adherence to governance policies and corporate standards.
Your responsibilities will also include facilitating Scrum ceremonies, collaborating with product owners, program managers, and other stakeholders to communicate delivery progress and escalate key risks and blockers impacting team effectiveness. You will collaborate with colleagues and managers to resolve challenges and achieve team goals while interacting with internal customers. You will receive guidance from leadership and use independent judgment to navigate policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience as a practicing Scrum Master, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Proficiency with Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
- Experience with Jira (JQL, Dashboards) and Confluence.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and finance-related IT infrastructure is a plus.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple stakeholders and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with risk management techniques and Agile best practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and ensure adherence to Agile practices.
- Work with teams to drive continuous improvement, optimize team performance, and ensure Sprint goals are met.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve blockers and risks that affect team performance.
- Provide coaching and guidance to teams to enhance their productivity, self-organization, and accountability.
- Consult with senior leadership on governance policies and best practices.
- Participate in large-scale planning and review processes, addressing moderately complex Scrum Master challenges.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Deep understanding of Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
- Experience with facilitating technical discussions and bridging gaps between Agile processes and technical requirements.
- Ability to maintain team focus and morale during challenging situations.
- Strong track record in relationship-building with team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Experience with data center and finance IT infrastructure is advantageous.
